About this activity.
7 talents have been nominated for the Hendrik de Vries grant for Visual Arts and Literature. The grant is an incentive prize from the municipality of Groningen. In the Visual Arts category the nominees are Trudy Oosterhuis, Marnix Sixma, Davey Smand, Jessie Tam and Leonard Witte. Ivo Smit and Maartje Terpstra were nominated in the Literature category. Kunstpunt shows their work. In addition to the grant, the nominees have a chance to win a public award of €1,000. Who will win? Vote for your favorite: kunstpuntgroningen.nl/stem.
In this exhibition you can see recent work by all nominees. But how do you actually present your work in a good way? In a talent development trajectory of Kunstpunt, the young artists were guided by exhibition designer Margriet van Weenen. She gave them tips and tricks about putting together their presentations.
The work of last year's winners should also not be missing from this exhibition. Anna Dijk won in the Literature category and made a podcast about ADHD in adults with the prize. In the podcast ‘How I learned to get up from the couch’, she explains how she herself was diagnosed with ADHD this year, what was going on in her mind during that period and she talks with other ADHDers about their experiences. The Visual Arts grant went to Joyce Zwerver in 2020. She has focused on a new medium within her work: collages, thus creating a strong series. In addition, Joyce gives you a sneak peek of what's to come during this presentation.
The exhibition can be seen in Kunstpunt until 13 January. Around the summer of 2022, interested visual and literary talents can once again submit a plan for the Hendrik de Vries grant.
