From Friday October 6 (National Older People's Day) until Thursday, November 2, 2023 (All Souls' Day) Rolina Nell presents Dorien in De Portiersloge.

For De Portiersloge, Rolina Nell chose a specific life-size back view from her RAAKvlak series: an older woman, made in charcoal on paper, then printed on recycled fabric, hanging in space.

RAAKvlak consists of a number of life-size back views of women, drawn with charcoal on paper. In RAAKvlak the chair is the place where the relationship to time expresses itself. Women of different ages stand on the exact chair that supports their mood. In this way the chairs reveal something of the personality. Is the chair the supposed springboard to a free future or the straitjacket of so many visions? The women's postures appeal to feelings of freedom and resignation.

Rolina used models for RAAKvlak. Her eldest model was her mother-in-law Dorien. After her death at the age of 93, and her funeral on her birthday May 27, 2020, her drawing suddenly got a deeper, different, additional meaning. She shows herself powerful, but also vulnerable in her almost transparent nightwear. Fading yet persistently present.

With Dorien, Henk Puts (1950) takes a fitting farewell as curator of De Portiersloge. At the same time, the Art Indeed Foundation is also releasing De Portiersloge. . After Ingrid Reynders, Henk Puts arranged about a hundred exhibitions in ten years. Wilma Vissers will succeed him after November 2, 2023.
