French Art market Westerhaven

About this activity.

At the Westerhaven, in collaboration with Zomerstad Groningen, we’re organizing a small art market on four Sundays. On the afternoons of July 20 and 27 and August 3 and 10, 2025, the Westerhaven will transform into a cozy French-style terrace with artists and musicians from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM. As an artist, you can participate for free—whether by offering a workshop, doing a live demo, or selling your work.

Just imagine…
One of those slow, summery 🌞 Sunday afternoons as you wander through the city... and you hear...
… a musician playing French chansons on an 🪗accordion...
You catch the scent of flowers coming from a stall selling fresh bouquets...
There’s French cheese and sausage for sale…
… a portrait artist is putting the final touches on someone’s portrait as they sit across from her…
Other artists (including visual artists) are showing their latest work, while some are sketching out ideas for new pieces.
An antiquarian bookseller 📙 and a comic book dealer display their collections…
A workshop is happening nearby…
Workshop providers and teachers are presenting themselves while you enjoy a glass of wine 🍷 or a cup of coffee ☕️ on the terrace...
Meanwhile, under a tree, someone is playing music and...

In short: it’s one of those delightful Sunday afternoons. ⛱️
