Reynaert Vosveld
Reynaert Vosveld is an animator and filmmaker. In 2016 he graduated from ArtEZ University of the Arts in Zwolle.
“During the corona crisis, isolation has been an area that almost everyone has struggled with, or is struggling with. For example, due to illness, lockdown and working from home, everyone’s world is limited to a few locations within a larger living environment. Normally my own world is quite large. For example, I always traveled a lot through the Netherlands and abroad with my bands and I visited many exhibitions, musical performances and colleagues and acquaintances living far away. The vast majority of my world has been shut out with the crisis and I limited myself to a number of locations in Groningen where I spent my days. These places and the emotional charge that this isolation entails are inextricably linked to the corona crisis of the past year and a half for me. With a series of paintings I map locations of my Groningen of this period with emotional charge. Images like the view from my room window, the isolation of my studio, and the psychiatric clinic where I follow my therapies have been iconic places in my world for the past year and a half. By making these paintings I express my own sense of isolation and the way I experienced the city.”
About project 'Lucht'
The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Reynaert Vosveld. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
