Kiki
“By living life in repetition, one will look for the moments that break them. Kiki is a collection of animated shorts that show the life of the main character, nicknamed Kiki. The story is broken up into small chunks, each of which gives a small glimpse of the repeating cycles within the world. Each video focuses on his everyday routines and the small irregularities that disrupt them, creating irreversible rifts in his reality.
Kiki is meant to emphasize both the nonsensical dullness of reality and a throwback to my background in animated storytelling. In my practice I like to play with different realities and hypothetical worlds. My work offers situations to reflect on what it means to be human. This small animated collection is my way of repeating the same identity issue by presenting it in the form of a fictional cartoon character.”
About project 'Lucht'
The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Quintus Glerum. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
