Klaske Bootsma

Klaske Bootsma (1995) is a visual artist. In 2018 she graduated from Academy Minerva.

“I can lose myself in painting for weeks until I abruptly stop and find all my paintings stupid and nonsensical. With this project I want to defy this point and go beyond, let my hands do the work and approach painting in an investigative way. Why do I always stop painting? What does it mean to me to make a painting? What is a painting to me or what can it all be? Do I need to fully understand my work? By painting a lot, experimenting with new materials, documenting my process and collecting feedback, ideas and opinions I hope to enter into a more in-depth dialogue with my own work and find out how my process changes if I keep painting.”

About project 'Lucht'

The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Klaske Bootsma. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
