JOHN HEJDUK'S APEX, A BOOK ABOUT THE WALL HOUSE

“Many things around us are fundamentally connected to a ‘model’. Making a model is one thing, but using it is another. In the early 1970s, the New York architect John Quentin Hejduk (1929-2000) made a series of theoretical models, the so-called Wall Houses. The only model that has been realized is located on the Hoornse Meer. Shortly after Hejduk’s death in the summer of 2009, the construction of Wall House #2 could start. Wall House #2 is one of the most idiosyncratic homes in Groningen and a highlight in the oeuvre of John Quentin Hejduk. My book brings together a set of three different stories. A former student of John Hejduk speaks, a number of artists who have created work for the Wall House during a residency and myself as a curator and experience expert. I myself lived for a short time in one of the apartments of John Hejduks Kreuzberg Turm in Berlin.”

About project 'Lucht'

The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Kie Ellens. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
