Magazine cover
“The last few months I have been busy embroidering a magazine cover. If there is something that is temporarily relevant and therefore worthless after a week, it is a printed magazine. Because after reading it once, it may be under the coffee table for another year. Or it is used as a coaster, so that there are no circles in your table top. Maybe it will disappear in a school project where a collage has to be made. It is only used once for what it was actually made for. By embroidering this front page I stopped time for a while. This makes a special contrast in my work: one-time use versus the time-consuming work of embroidery. Worthless waste as precious art.”
About project 'Lucht'
The corona measures have hit the art sector enormously. Exhibitions and art grants have been canceled or postponed. It is an uncertain time for many artists. With the Lucht project, Kunstpunt Groningen wants to support artists and designers from the municipality of Groningen. 87 Groningen artists have received a stipend with which they have created new work, including Dagmar Stap. With a billboard exhibition from September 27 to October 17, we present all artists spread throughout the city of Groningen. View the work of the other artists here.
