Description
Synopsis
Guardians of Grunn takes place in a parallel version of the city of Groningen: Grunn. Derek Hinder, the archetype of an eager businessman, discovers that the statues scattered throughout the city are a unique source of energy. By channeling this energy, he hopes to compensate for the shortages caused by the closure of the natural gas field.
One by one, the artworks fades and disappears from our midst—along with our collective memories. Hinder believes he has found a clean source of energy but fails to see what he is taking from the community. This so-called “clean” energy leaves behind fractures; the memories and sense of togetherness embedded in the statues vanish from Grunn as well. Against the backdrop of a city growing increasingly discontent, some of the statues begin to resist. A revolution unfolds, and these heroes demand to reclaim their rightful place in the city…
