With an appropriate distance (2020)

Temporary art in public spaces

The CBK has invited three northern visual artists/designers to create a temporary work of art in the Noorderplantsoen for the summer of 2020. Inspired by the appropriate distance we currently have to keep from one another in connection with the coronavirus, Eva Koopmans, Jochem Koopman and Studio 212 Fahrenheit developed their visual response to this. This summer they want to inspire the residents of Groningen, provide them with a touch of humour and allow them to meet each other safely.

Eva Koopmans brings an Ode to the spontaneous encounter. Her installation reminds you of the power of spontaneous encounters with strangers and allows you to experience this too, at an appropriate distance. HOU IST by Jochem Koopman is a meeting place which has built-in seating at a distance of one-and-a-half-metres. This way you can catch up together without having to think about whether you are maintaining the right distance. In Personal Square, Studio 212 Fahrenheit takes the current minimum distance as an opportunity to allow the residents of Groningen to experience their personal maximum space with a line object.
