WANNAPLAY – Jan Boiten & Caecilia Thunnissen (2015)

Temporary art in public spaces

In 2015, you could swing on the Grote Markt with WANNAPLAY, an interactive installation created by Jan Boiten & Caecilia Thunnissen in which you produce sounds by swinging. The way you swing – hard, slow or stationary – determines how. When all the swings are occupied, a spontaneous swing orchestra emerges. But WANNAPLAY is not just about sound; the seats of the swings are illuminated, creating a moving, luminous sound installation in the dark. The installation was located on the Grote Markt during the Let’s Gro inspiration festival. The installation could previously be seen at various festivals. With WANNAPLAY, the CBK wanted to provide inspiration for future, non-ordinary playgrounds.
