Client: Stichting Boermarke Essen en Aa’s
The Stichting Boermarke Essen en Aa’s, formed by local residents of Wessinghuizen and the surrounding area, wanted to give visitors of Wessinghuizen, Veele and Höfte a reminder of the special environment in which the hamlets are located. That is why it approached the CBK for a Kunst-op-Maat art commission.
Jetske de Groot designed a work of art that is intended as both a reminder and a meeting place for local residents and visitors. De Groot approached local residents to work out the details. By doing this, she hoped to realise a work of art for them, but also by them.
In its form, the Skyline of Wessinghuizen refers to the presence of the three brooks and the history of the area. Seating is incorporated into the piece. There is also a place for shelter, and visitors to the area can temporarily park their bikes there.
