Playground equipment at school, Kluiverboom 9

Art commissions for companies

Client: CSBO De Kimkiel

The Christian primary school for special education De Kimkiel was established at two locations, on Korreweg and Antillenstraat. That caused some problems. Therefore, both buildings have been merged into one new building in Lewenborg, designed by Klein architects from Groningen.

Marjan Kamphuis designed this piece for the playground at the new building. It gives children freedom, while also challenging them to look for different ways to play. In her opinion, this created a unique space to play. The floor is a circle, representing unity. The poles are a reference to the individual development of the children. The ropes represent connection. The sail refers to the creative teaching methods at De Kimkiel: with a good sail and the right wind direction you will reach your destination.
