MARKER, art manifestation in the centre of Groningen (2018)
Temporary art in public spaces
Together with the Platform for Contemporary Art NP3, we developed an art manifestation entitled MARKER. The Grote Markt and its immediate surroundings were the source of inspiration, workspace and presentationroom for the exhibition. The works of art in the exhibition entered into a relationship with the place(s) and the public. MARKER wanted to give residents and visitors to Groningen a fresh, critical look at the public spaces. Walking across the square, the public could experience the works of art in different ways, floating above heads, anchored on or to buildings or standing on the Grote Markt. We put out an open call to which artists could apply for MARKER, then six artists were selected from all the applications: Ruben Boxman, Henri van Hoeve, Sarah Janssen, Lee McDonald, Bert Scholten and Albert Westerhoff. MARKER took place from 31 May to 9 June 2018 in on the Grote Markt in Groningen.
