Installation in Tschumi Pavilion

Art commissions for companies

Client: Tschumi Pavilion

How much is your head worth? Emerging artist Lieselot van Damme (b. Ghent, 1987) asked herself this question in her installation I’m so money, which she designed especially for the Tschumi pavilion on the Hereplein. Van Damme called upon Groningers to upload a selfie and participate in her temporary project. The selfies were printed directly onto a banknote in the Tschumi pavilion. That could be viewed in the pavilion itself or via a webcam. You were able to determine the value of the note and in turn, your own head. During the project, all banknotes were kept in a ‘money booth’ in the pavilion. Sometimes they were blown around inside it. During the night of art and science on Saturday 24 May, you could enter the pavilion. If you caught one of the winning tickets that night, you won a ‘banknote’ worth 350 euros.

With this project the Tschumi pavilion and the CBK wanted to provide a starting artist with a platform and allow them to gain experience working on a commission. Minerva Art Academy supported them in this.
