Artwork in Province conference rooms
Art commissions for companies
Client: Groningen Province
Groningen Province’s building on St. Jansstraat was in need of renovation. The approach: a sleek, contemporary workplace that takes a flexible work method into greater account. Expanding the conference rooms was also part of the renovation. For the new spaces, the province created a Kunst-op-Maat commission.
From the sketch presentations, the province chose Walker Pachler. He created the piece Dynamisch Stil (Dynamically Silent). ‘Dynamisch Stil’ includes works in four consultation rooms — Zethuis, Jukwerd, Hefswal and Klei — and the adjacent Boerdam conference room. It depicts the names of these hamlets and makes the province’s field of activity clear. Using ‘drops’ Pachler created a double layer in the work which yields a surprising view of the province.
