An-e-Motion by Karin Post in the Tschumi pavilion

Art commissions for companies

Client: Tschumi Pavilion

Realise a temporary, changeable/moving work of art for the Tschumi pavilion that attracts attention and captivates passers-by on the Hereplein — that was the basis for this art commission. Karin Post won the commission after making a pitch. She designed an installation inspired by the works of film pioneer Eadwaerd Muybridge. Using a life-size film generator she wanted to set the imagination of passers-by in motion. On different levels, her work showed an exploration of movement, such as rotating gears and chains that in turn drove axles with frames. There was also the moving picture element. For this, Post made a foray into stop-motion film with its own twist. The installation An-e-Motion emerged from a collaboration between the Tschumi pavilion and the CBK. The aim of both organisations was to offer a platform to a starting artist and to enable them to gain experience with commissioned work. Post received technical and material support in the execution of the work from Köbo of Groningen and Boter Reclamemakers of Gieten. The installation could be viewed until 6 June 2015.
