Velthuis graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2011 and has been working as an independent conceptual designer ever since. After a period in the Randstad, he is back on his homeland, or rather his backyard. Velthuis grew up next to the Noorderplantsoen and played theater in the (formerly) Prinsentheater throughout his childhood.

His work is diverse: from custom made kitchens to conceptual installations, from commissioned work to autonomous projects. In all his projects Velthuis searches for forms of expression for his stories. Acting has always remained a great love. That is why he has devised a new profession for his work: the 'Performgever', a combination of ‘performance’ and ‘vormgever’ (Dutch for ‘designer’).
