Reinder Bleeker
Reinder Bleeker, born on August 7, 1956 in Veendam, had a passion for images from an early age and collected all kinds of images from the sixties and seventies. At the age of fourteen he joined the painting club 'het Palet' to prepare for admission to the Minerva, Academy of Visual Arts. Although that didn't work out, he continued to make art in various forms: drawing, painting, sculpture, photography and comics. He took up painting again in the late 1990s.
Bleeker's paintings are powerful reflections of visible reality, often painted on location. This direct way of working forces him to make spontaneous creations that capture the liveliness of the moment. His colorful expressionist style shows Groningen city and village views and boats.
In his ink works, usually in the studio, outdoor impressions are reduced to balanced compositions with effective lines. Bleeker strives for his work to reflect the emotion of the moment.
