As an illustrator I graduated from Minerva Art Academy in Groningen.

My autonomous work as a painter is a nice change from my illustration work.

Being an artist is freedom for me. I don't have to adhere to rules, because I make them myself.

In my work I often look for harmonious and sober compositions, color combinations and tranquility.

The atmosphere that I create through discovery works meditatively for me.

The subjects in my work vary from portraits of people and animals, to nature, in which birds and especially owls often play a leading or supporting role.

Recurring theme; simplicity, love, feeling and the relationship between people and nature.

My paintings often reflect my personal feelings and the lessons that I learn in life.

In my paintings I can express what I learn about how to take life as it is.

The final images in my paintings are a way for me to give the thoughts and images that live in my head a place.

When I paint I feel complete and I can let go.
