About this artwork.
Lena van der Wal was commissioned by the Grunobuurt district team to make another design – as well as the Bird House Route – to connect the northern and southern parts of the Grunobuurt with each other. This design is called Urban Blocks and is inspired by the traditional building blocks that most kids have played with at some point in their lives.
The blocks are to be located at different locations in the Grunobuurt and along the Hoornsediep. They are big enough to sit on to enjoy the view over the Hoornsediep, for example, or to clamber on.
