The Catwalk

About this artwork.

The Catwalk starts in the Oude Kijk in 't Jatstraat and takes the visitor through an alley to the newly built pavilion of the university museum. The artwork is made of polyester with illuminated transparent surfaces. It thus indicates the existence of the museum to passers-by. 

The work was created by Architectuurstudio SKETS, a group of architects working from Groningen on innovative ideas concerning urban planning, architecture and interior architecture.

The Catwalk is part of the art project Academic years 1994-2014 of the University of Groningen. This project was started in 1994 on the occasion of the 380th anniversary of the university and ended in 2014 on the occasion of its 400th anniversary.
