Possibility Plant

Giny Vos

About this artwork.

On the forecourt at the entrance to the building, there is a large steel, black box, from which a pattern of wavy lines has been cut out. If you stoop to peer through the cut-outs you'll see a system of tubes and cylinders, stairs and bridges. The box runs into the parking garage. And if you look up from there, you'll see tubes and cylinders. The light enters the parking garage floor and forms the blueprint of a machine.

Giny Vos created this work of art for DUO and Groningen Tax and Customs Administration. Vos says: “I wanted to show that there’s still a big machine that keeps it all going. A kind of information refinery that won’t give up its secret ‘just like that’. Through the cracks in the black box you can catch glimpses of the processes taking place inside. At night, the black box on the square emanates a mysterious light, giving the imaginative an impression of a large, working brain.
