Lotus Bud (Lotusknop)

About this artwork.

Lotus Bud was purchased by the Municipality of Groningen through the national subsidy scheme for visual artists (BKR). This piece stood on Siersteenlaan from 1999 to 2006, after which it was kept in the municipal art storage facility. From 2018, Lotus Bud will adorn the square on Blekerstraat.
 

Jan van Baren primarily created figurative sculptures of stone, bronze, wood and combinations thereof. There are several sculptures by the artist – mostly animal figures – in the city of Groningen.
