Keystone with ram’s head ( Sluitsteen met ramskop)

Wim Haver

About this artwork.

The red painted keystone with ram's head above the main entrance of the building on the Astraat 1 was made in 1916 by Wim Haver. The stylised head is carved out of natural stone.

In the city of Groningen two other natural stone works by Haver can be seen. Of these, the reliefs at the former Roman Catholic hospital are the most famous.

Haver's greatest artistic strength, however, lay not in his stonework, but in wood sculpture.
