The names of the nominees for the Hendrik de Vries stipendium 2021 have been announced. The jury has selected five nominees for the Fine Arts stipend. These are Trudy Oosterhuis, Marnix Sixma, Davey Smand, Jessie Tam and Leonard Witte. There are two nominees for the Literature stipend: Ivo Smit and Maartje Terpstra. Who do you think deserves the Audience Award? Vote!
This year there are a total of 17 registrations. A number of entries were able to enthuse the jury due to the quality of their portfolio and the originality and exuberance of their plans. This enabled the jury to make a good selection of the applications.
In the submissions for Fine Art the jury saw many plans with a focus on artistic research, in which the effects of the corona crisis are reflected in a great deal of attention to (self) reflection, the environment and fellow human beings. Among the entries for Literature, the variety of different forms of expression is striking, in which an attempt is made to reach a wide audience in an activist manner. The usual literary publications have not always been chosen.
On Saturday 11 December, Alderman for Culture Berndt Benjamins will announce the winners chosen by the jury. This will take place during Wildvang at Kunstpunt Groningen. This year's jury consists of Barend van Heusden, Bart Nijstad, Chantalla Pleiter, Lejo Siepe, Sandra van Voorst and Agnes Winter (chairman).
Audience Award
In addition to the stipend of € 6,000, the nominees have a chance to win a public award of € 1,000. You can vote online at the beginning of December. The nominee with the most votes will receive this audience award. Vote for your favorite talent here.
