Grand Prize: The winning story will be adapted into a comic by Esther van de Bund, one of the artists from the collective that created Guardians of Grunn, and published in the next issue of KUNST. magazine.

Top Five: The five highest-ranked writers will present their stories during the closing event of the Month of Public Art, and their stories will be published in KUNST. magazine and on the websites of Kunstpunt and NOORDWOORD.

Number of Entries: Each author may submit a maximum of one story.

Story Requirements: The story must be written in carefully composed Dutch, must be new (i.e., not previously submitted to any other writing competition), must not have been previously published (online or in print), and must be written by a human, not by AI or a chatbot.

World: Guardians of Grunn is set in a parallel version of the city of Groningen: Grunn.

Story Content: Choose one sculpture from the public art collection in Groningen and use it as a character in a story set in the world described in Article 5. Include a photo of the chosen artwork with your story.

Story Length: A maximum of 750 words.

Eligibility: Anyone who meets these conditions can participate.

Ineligibility: Pre-selectors, jury members, and individuals involved in the organization are excluded from participation.

Co-Authors: Two or more authors may co-write and submit one story together.

Anonymity: To allow for anonymous judging, all identifying information must be removed from the story.

Submission: Send your story to schrijfwedstrijd@kunstpuntgroningen.nl, including your real name, the title of your story, and a link to the artwork that inspired it in the body of the email. Attach the anonymized story as a text document.

Formatting: Use a standard, easily readable font and size. Submit your file as a .doc(x) or .rtf document. No illustrations or photos are allowed in the text, except for the photo of the chosen sculpture.

Participation Fee: Participation is free of charge.

Deadline: One minute before midnight on Sunday, June 1st, 2025.

Announcement of Results: Winners will be announced on July 3rd, 2025, during the closing event of the Month of Public Art.

Publication Consent: By submitting your story, you automatically grant permission for your story to be adapted into a comic (if you win, see Article 1) and to be published (see Article 2). The published stories will not be edited.
