Create your own Grunn character

Ultra, Dreckschnabel, Peerd van Ome Loeks, Beeld voor de Vishoek, Kikkercyclus, De Grote Verscheuring, Wervel, Sint-Maarten, Bever — all of these sculptures take center stage in Guardians of Grunn.

Grunn is a parallel universe where the public art in Groningen comes to life. And just like any superhero universe, this world can grow endlessly, making room for new characters, heroes, and villains. We invite all Groningers to add their own character to Grunn and, during a one-day exhibition on July 3 at Kunstpunt, come together to admire this rich universe and celebrate its creators.

Who are those creators? Maybe you are one of them!

Want to take part in this one-day exhibition? Here's what you need to know:

  • Create your own Grunn character. Base your character on one of the more than 600 artworks found on the streets of Groningen — for example, a sculpture near your home. Take a look at the collection of artworks in Groningen [here].
  • You can use any materials you like: you can draw, paint, sculpt, build with Lego, etc.
  • You can print out this worksheet and use it as a basis to draw your superhero (but it is not required).
  • We can best accommodate creations in A4, A3, or A2 format. Is your format different? Or did you work with materials other than paper? Then please get in touch with Nathalie Hartjes at nathaliehartjes@kunstpuntgroningen.nl.
  • We’ll do our best to give every public submission a nice spot.
  • If you register before June 30, 2025, we will ensure that we have a place for your work.
  • Submit your creation with a photo of it to Nathalie Hartjes via nathaliehartjes@kunstpuntgroningen.nl.
  • Drop off your work at Kunstpunt on July 1 or 2 between 12:00 and 17:00.
  • This is an event for all ages, and we expect the submissions to reflect that.
