Multiple Fynn van der Ziel

Artist Fynn van der Ziel was commissioned by the Kunstuitleen van Kunstpunt to create a series of unique works of art for which he used a special printing technique: lenticular printing.

Fynn van der Ziel: “I mainly work with plastiscine: clay that does not dry up. After I have shaped the material, I photograph it, after which I digitally add color to it. This is then printed as a lenticular print: a print where you have such a large plate with a plastic ridge over it. The image changes depending on the angle the viewer adopts.”

Fynn drew inspiration for his work from his immediate surroundings: the Groningen countryside and the farm where he now works: “There is a large garden where I have a whole history of garden parties: that can be seen in the night scene. The daytime scene is a very calm image, with some cows and flowers. Then the party is over and peace returns to the countryside.”

Special pre-sale

With commissioned art we want to support artists in their professional practice. Once a year we commission a young artist to create a multiple. This is made possible partly thanks to the membership fees of Artuitleen borrowers. That is why there is a special pre-sale for them. The presale for Kunstpunt members starts on Wednesday, November 8. The multiple will be available to everyone from Thursday, November 9.

Would you also like access to pre-sales from now on? Then become a borrower of the Kunstuitleen. Read here how borrowing works.

About Fynn van der Ziel

Visual artist Fynn van der Ziel (1996) graduated as an illustrator and animator from the Minerva Academy in 2021. He has a strong penchant for absurdism. Using various media, including plasticine and rhisography, he creates an uncomfortable world in which he feels at home. In 2022, he was commissioned by the RUG to create a mural about the Groningen scientist Jacobus Cornelius Kapteyn in the corridor towards the University Museum. More information about him can be found here.
