Performance by Charles Goudsmit, with Mamour Seck and Rolf Krikke on Sunday 14 August at 3 p.m. in Synagogue Groningen
Charles Goudsmit moves with the current of the sea. Where are you and who are you with? And how do you move among the others? With these existential questions about his past, he tries to keep the present in check with stories, poetry and music. In fragments of thoughts such as in ebb and flow, he meets 3 generations before him, including his Jewish great-grandfather Salomon Goudsmit. This ancestor went to the then Dutch East Indies at the beginning of the 20th century. Great-grandson Charles set out in search of both the scars and the birth of hope.
