Exhibition November 28 – January 31. Anne Fie Salverda was an artist-in-residence at the Bierumer School during October and November. The opening of her exhibition at the Bierumer School is on Friday, November 28.
Anne Fie Salverda creates poetic, non-verbal narratives using animation and light art. In her work, she explores the boundaries of imagination: she quotes the world as it is, but also distorts and abstracts it. Personal memories, dreams, and fears form the basis of her visual stories. Her goal is to make intimate themes discussable and to find a place for these emotions. Hand-drawn images form the building blocks of her work, bridging the gap between the digital and analog worlds.
She projects these drawn and animated impressions throughout the space, aiming to merge her imagination with the environment. Her animations and installations have already been displayed in various locations throughout the Northern Netherlands – from shop windows to galleries, and even on church facades. In 2018, she won the Young Master Award, which included a residency in Spain. She is currently spending two months at the Bierumer School and participating in the development program of the Culture & Nature Network.
The attic of the Bierumer School is a true playground for her as a light artist. The dark space forms a blank canvas for someone who works with light and sound. She will create an audiovisual installation that sparks the public's imagination: a visual symphony that merges image and sound, embracing both her love and her sorrow for the landscape.
The exhibition opening, VERLIJNEN, will take place on Friday, November 28th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. That afternoon, Paula Biemans will be in conversation with Anne Fie Salverda about her work at the Bierumer School. The exhibition will run until January 31st.
