Veldwerk: Archives and Documentation | February 19
About this activity.
Kunstpunt is organizing three Veldwerk meetings on legacy. This is the second in the series:
Ramses van Bragt is responsible for acquiring artists' archives at the RKD. What criteria are used in this process? And for artists and heirs: how do you best organize the bequeathed works and documentation? What can be discarded or should be retained? What are the implications of a potential donation?
Rémon van Gemeren has written several biographies, including those of the artists Carel Willink and Jan Mankes. As a biographer, where do you source your information? What do you hope to find, and in what condition? How do you build your narrative from the available material?
Judith Spijksma has been curator of contemporary art at the Groninger Museum since 2026. How do museums generally deal with potential donations? When making new acquisitions, do they ensure that they provide a complete and representative reflection of an artist's oeuvre? What sources do they draw on, apart from the artworks themselves?

About Veldwerk
Veldwerk is the expertise and research program of Kunstpunt. It brings together professionals from the field to discuss concrete questions surrounding artistry and art in public spaces, delve deeper into them, and translate them into practice. Veldwerk is therefore a place for exchange, reflection, and experimentation. Participants share their experiences, test ideas, and develop new insights together. Themes such as legacy, participation, management, and career development are central.
