Between gesture and construction

About this activity.

From November 8, 2025, to January 3, 2026, six artists from Kunstinitiative Ruhr e.V. will showcase some of the most striking differences in the expression of non-objective art at DSG Galerie Assen. The art exchange between the two art associations is taking place again. Artists from Kunstinitiative Ruhr e.V. were last guests at DSG Galerie in 2017.

The Kunstinitiative Ruhr association has existed for approximately 20 years. The gallery, located in the Europahaus in Oberhausen's city center, is an integral part of the Oberhausen art scene with changing exhibitions and offers regional and national artists the opportunity to present their work.

In early 2026, artists from the Beeldende Kunstenaars Verenigung Drenthe (Drenthe Visual Artists Association) will be guests at Galerie KiR as part of the active art exchange program.

In the exhibition "Between Gesture and Construction" at the Kunstinitiative Ruhr, the artists will use a variety of artistic styles and forms of expression to express their creative ideas, visions, and emotions. From exploding colors and bright brushstrokes to delicate and precise lines, from geometric structures and shapes to architectures that dissolve in light, and a combination of digital art and painting. Works on display include works by Jan Arlt with intermediary art; Hildegard Hugo with photography; Herbert Michels with painting; Agnieszka Smuda with ink drawing; Nicole Tenge with gestural painting; and Wilfried Weiss with painting and collage.
