Theater Rotterdam / Davy Pieters - Not All is Lost
About this activity.
Mutual dependance. Mutual need for each other. Not all is lost shows how we are connected as people. That we are fragile bodies that care for other bodies. That we catch, touch, grab and lift each other. And how conspiracy theories about the medical world and the desire to be an immortal superhuman are changing the balance.
Not all is lost is one of four visual performances about growing up in a future world. In this four-part series, Pieters links life phases to the four elements of nature. In Not all is lost the young adult stage of life shares the theater floor with the element earth. Performance, scenography and soundscape work together to describe this mid-life period. A period between life and death in which caring takes on an increasingly personal meaning. As a young adult there is room for growth, but you are also confronted with decay, death and silence. It is a panoramic story about care and neglect. Because we often only see the real value of care when it is missing.
