The Mucha Experience

Stylized floral motifs, flowing lines and female figures with lush hair. From Saturday 5 July 2025, the Art Nouveau artist Alphonse Mucha will come to life in Drents Museum De Buitenplaats. The Mucha Experience shows the life and work of Mucha in large projections, 3D animations and with specially composed music.
The Czech artist Alphonse Mucha (1860 - 1939) is known for his posters and decorative illustrations. These works are immediately recognizable by the female figures with lush hair, surrounded by stylized floral motifs and flowing lines, set in pastel colors. The combination and continuous alternation of projections, sound and specially composed music in the museum pavilion in Eelde, ensures that you as a visitor are immersed in Mucha's story.
The Mucha Experience is the first international Art Nouveau presentation of Drents Museum De Buitenplaats. With the collection of art from around 1900 of the Drents Museum as a basis, DM De Buitenplaats profiles itself as the museum of Art Nouveau. The Mucha Experience is a close collaboration with Grand Palais Immersif and the Mucha Foundation.

Drents Museum De Buitenplaats in Eelde is weer open! Onder een nieuwe naam en met een nieuwe koers. Vanaf 2024 is Drents Museum De Buitenplaats volwaardig onderdeel van het Drents Museum in Assen. In het vernieuwde museum krijgt de kust uit de art nouveau de hoofdrol, met als uitgangspunt de collectie kunst rond 1900 van het Drents Museum.
Het ensemble De Buitenplaats omvat het 20ste-eeuwse museumpaviljoen en vaste tuin én het 17de-eeuwse Nijsinghhuis met muurschilderingen van de Noordelijke Figuratieven. Het Drentse Landschap is eigenaar van het ensemble en draagt zorg voor het beheer.
