Dajana Heremic and Davey Smand, studio HEX, both are young parents and became inspired by their experiences of preganacy and birth in the creation of their new and complimentary work for SEEN. Both explore through image and sound the connection between fertility and grief.
Heremic does this in a video triptych through which she envisions a fundamentally earthly and sensual experience of giving birth, being born, dying: our blooming and ageing. This serves as fertile soil for the sound piece created by studio HEX. The pieces , though separately created, come forth from experiences painfully intimate, yet connected through mytholgy that transcends the individual.
They use this opportunity for solidarity fund raising for Palestinian families in Gaza, whose lives are threatened and are in dire need of aid.
