Screening 'Waddenzeevolk'
About this activity.
Please notice! This event will be hosted in Dutch.
Imagine: a people whose existence we were unaware of until yesterday. They live behind the sea dyke, in an area that is still their home.
The Groningen artist Koos Buist captured their story in the film Waddenzeevolk (2022). In this film, he goes in search of himself in the Groningen polder landscape. During that search, he discovers traces of a forgotten sea people – people who once lived half on land and half in the water. With the arrival of the sea dyke, they would have disappeared... or would they? Perhaps they are still there, but we cannot see them.
The film takes us to the sea, where we are drawn deeper and deeper into the search for truth and identity. Waddenzeevolk was previously screened at the Northern Film Festival in Leeuwarden, at the Forum in Groningen, and was nominated for the Noorderkroon 2022.
