Now on display in the Kunstuitleen: Rutger Hiemstra – The Usual Stuff

In the solo exhibition The Usual Stuff, artist Rutger Hiemstra shows a large number of colorful paintings that he made in the past few years: still lifes, plein-air landscapes and model studies, but also an interior study of the clutter in his garage, for example. His subjects are diverse: from a still life of flowers, a snowy garden fence and a caprese salad to landscape paintings of Noorderpolderzijl and the Alps. “Maybe I'm just trying to capture in paint what I love about life,” he says. 'Hiemstra's still lifes are antidepressants in paint' newspaper NRC once wrote about his work.
ABOUT RUTGER HIEMSTRA
Rutger Hiemstra (Groningen, 1975) lives and works in Paterswolde. After graduating from the Minerva art academy in 1999, Hiemstra exhibited extensively in the Netherlands and several times abroad. His work can be found in private collections in Europe and North America.

RUTGER HIEMSTRA 'S CHOICE
In addition to his own work, Hiemstra also shows a number of favorite works from the Kunstuitleen collection. From paintings that reminded him of a vacation from long ago to works that are related to his work, such as a still life of tomatoes. His selection is displayed on the wall next to his exhibition.
STUDIO COLLECTION: SOLO
The Usual Stuff is part of the Studio Collection: Solo series in which artists present their work directly from the studio in a solo exhibition at Kunstpunt Groningen.
