Rieka Oijnhausen - Egypt II

About this activity.

From 1 to 30 June 2023, Rieka Oijnhausen, artist from Groningen, will exhibit a screen print 'Egypt II' in window gallery 'De Prachtvink' at shopping center Vinkhuizen, Platinalaan 505a, 9743 GZ Groningen.

Egypt II is a screen print of 35 x 30 cm. The edition is 1/1. In her work, Rieka was inspired by classical hieroglyphs. Rieka says about her own work: 'My prints evoke a memory, atmosphere of a journey or event. I make a series of prints of a subject. A series consists of approximately fifty screen prints. Each print in the series differs in composition, while each work was often created with the same images. The prints are made up of surfaces, templates, drawings, collage, text, painting on the sieve and self-made photos. With these means chosen by me I try to give all prints strength and radiance of my memories, feelings and fantasy.

There is therefore only one copy of each print in a series. Each print is unique.'

Rieka Oijnhausen is an artist from Groningen, living in Vinkhuizen. In 1986 she graduated from the Minerva Academy in Groningen. She has focused on graphic techniques: screen printing in combination with photography and drawing.

Rieka has made the following silkscreen series: Experiment, Walzer (Tanztheater Wuppertal by Pina Bausch), Uzes / Arles – France, New York, Nefretete and Egypt.

The window gallery is an exhibition space that can only be viewed from the outside, but 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The gallery is illuminated until 11:00 PM.

Every month a new work of art by an artist is exhibited.
