OFF HOOK, the new art space in Groningen, would like to invite you to the second exhibition:

LARS WOLTER: POTPOURRI

Lars Wolter lives and works in Mönchengladbach (DE) and graduated in 2001 from the Art Academy Düsseldorf. Before that he did an internship as a furniture maker.

Visual artist and initiator of Off Hook Lydia Wierenga got to know Lars and his work better through his participation in her book (A6 murals worldwide).

In his work Lars Wolter combines ideas from the minimalism of the sixties with contemporary culture. He makes large-sized sculptures, wall objects and murals that usually relate to the space in which they are located. Variations of geometric models and a multitude of shapes often arise, whereby the conscious renunciation of any painterly gesture is made.

The colorful sculptures and objects are characterized by smooth surfaces and pure monochromy. These objects are in direct dialogue with the murals that surround them. The same goes for Off Hook. Lars Wolter has had several solo exhibitions at Rocket Gallery in London, Konsortium in Düsseldorf and the Poor Farm in Wisconsin. His work has been acquired by the Daimler Art Collection in Germany, among others.

A limited edition silkscreen print will be available especially for this occasion.

OFF HOOK.

OFF HOOK is an artist run space for contemporary art and exhibitions. It’s located at the corner of a former chemistry laboratory in Groningen, the Netherlands.

OFF HOOK is founded by Dutch artist Lydia Wierenga, with the goal to invite artists to “do what they want”.

OFF HOOK will also present screen-prints in limited editions and “a little something on the side”.

Opening hours: every Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
