Otto Krol - new cityscapes

Otto Krol (1949) is from Groningen. Born in the city of Groningen from Frisian parents, a real one
northerner. He calls himself economical with words and tries out a story he wants
to reduce storytelling to its essence. While formulating, he searches for the right words.
That is also the way he paints. He is economical with paint, looks a lot and is looking for something
way to express as precisely as possible what he wants to say.

Otto himself says:
'My paintings are often about architecture. View of the city from a hotel room.
I prefer buildings with large wall surfaces on which the sun casts shadows
causes. Sunlight is very important to me. I use the photos I take as...
starting point. I adjust colors if necessary; I leave out details as much as possible.
I place the building in question centrally in the image and I pay attention to balance between horizontal ones
and vertical lines.”

In addition to these paintings, which tend towards abstraction, Otto continues to look around and at himself
being amazed by people's postures and the effect of light on the colors around them.
But whether they are people or buildings, all works radiate peace and balance
that pause for a moment the violence of a troubled world.
