In the light of an overhead projector, Klaske Oenema shows the process of giving meaning to our lives and how it fades. She uses everyday materials: old envelopes, paper, tape...

In the performance, Klaske manipulates the shadows that arise from these materials and combines them with texts, recited or sung.

She currently often collaborates with Martine Rademakers, Janke Brands and Welmoed Wijma to accompany her performance live with music.

Klaske Oenema lives and works in Amsterdam but has lived in Groningen for almost 20 years. She has shown her work in various places and venues, such as Lowlands, Kunstfestival Watou, Noorderzon Festival and Centraal Museum Utrecht. But also in the kitchen at people's homes. More recently, she has developed photo prints of her shadow works, called Permanent Projections. A selection of these works can be seen in Off Hook during her performance and the week after, on Thursday 31 March and Friday 1 April (12 am - 5 pm). 

OFF HOOK.

OFF HOOK is an artist run space for contemporary art and exhibitions. It’s located at the corner of a former chemistry laboratory in Groningen, the Netherlands.

OFF HOOK is founded by Dutch artist Lydia Wierenga, with the goal to invite artists to “do what they want”.

OFF HOOK will also present screen-prints in limited editions and “a little something on the side”.

Opening hours: every Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
