Together, we’ll make a long beaded chain for the city of Groningen
Would you like to join others in creating something special for the magical Sunnemeerten Parade? Help us create a light sculpture: a long beaded chain that will be carried through the city during the parade.
On October 7, 14, 21, and 28, you’re welcome to join us for an afternoon in the Kunstpunt studios at Trompingel 27a in Groningen. Under the guidance of artist Nienke Busser, you’ll work alongside other participants to create the beaded chain.
The chain will be a gift to the city of Groningen and serves as a symbol of connection. Chains and beads have played a role in rituals around the world for centuries. Think, for example, of the Catholic rosary or the mala in Buddhism. Within the theme of this year’s Sunnemeerten Parade—Rituals—the chain also represents the bringing together of people, stories, and traditions.
And best of all: the result won’t stay in the studio. On November 7, you can hold the chain yourself during the magical Sunnemeerten Parade!
How do I participate?
No experience is necessary—anyone can join. Participation is free, and you can choose which afternoon to join: October 7, 14, 21, or 28 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
