About this activity.
Visual artist Pat van Boeckel presents his work on the windows of the Bierumer School. His work can be seen daily from 5 to 10 p.m. until Jan. 5, 2024.
Pat van Boeckel is a visual artist specializing in the documentary film genre and video art. His video art explores the interwoven relationship between humans and their (natural) environment.
In general, his work is characterized by its apparent simplicity. Its slow pace contrasts it with the speed and ephemerality of modern visual culture. The embodied experience of time and place is central to both his documentaries and his video artworks. He prefers to project his video art into and onto existing objects and spaces, adding new layers to the moving image. It allows him to twist and play with meanings and expectations. In this process, he invents his own language of signification, leaving room for the audience to make their own interpretations. Most of his documentaries have been broadcast on Dutch public television. His video art is made on location and exhibited internationally (from Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States to Russia, Japan and Mongolia).
Pat van Boeckel wants to bring the old schoolroom of the Bierumer School back to life during the dark days of the year. On Friday, Dec. 22, he will be present at the Bierumer School and explain his work.
Bierumer School offers artists space for production and presentation and is open to the public every Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Bierumer School, Hereweg 12, 9906 PE Bierum www.bierumerschool.nl.
