Jubilee exhibition of letterpress printing machines in Forma Aktua and Galerie Noord
HṑLT, the association of Northern letterpress printers, celebrates its 25th anniversary. On the occasion of this anniversary, an exhibition of the work of 19 members of the association can be seen from 5 January to 3 February 2023. Together they show a range of possibilities of the art of relief printing. The exhibition is a collaboration between Forma Aktua and Galerie Noord. The opening is on Sunday, January 8 at 4:00 PM. Then the picture box that the members of HṑLT made especially for their anniversary is also revealed.
HṑLT is an association of professional artists from the Northern Netherlands. They make prints using relief printing techniques, such as woodcut, linocut and engraving. Together they experiment with materials and new methods, exchange knowledge and experience and create exhibitions. In this jubilee exhibition, 19 of their members show various possibilities of letterpress printing, from expressive black-and-white printing to complex multi-colour printing.
The participating artists are: Aldrik Salverda, Angelique van Wesemael, Anja Knoopers, Anne Brouwer, Antje Veldstra, Bert Hemsteede, Claudia van de Leur, Eline Brontsema, Elise Madderom, Jan-Erik Wedholm, Marjolein Terwindt-Wetterauw, Rineke Hollemans, Rita Lentz , Sietske Bosma, Tim Blaauw, Tineke van den Berg, Titia Beukema, Wijke van der Bij and Willy van der Duyn. They all use their own technique and show a variety of themes.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the members of HṑLT made a picture box together. The box contains a small woodcut of each member and an exchange frame with passepartout. The paper size is 20 by 20 centimeters and the edition is 35 copies. The box will be presented during the opening on January 8 by Bert Hemsteede, chairman of HṑLt. Groningen gallery owner and art dealer Richard ter Borg will open the exhibition at 4:00 PM.
Galerie Noord.
Galerie Noord is een expositieruimte in hartje Groningen. Vierwekelijks bieden we kunstenaars uit het Noorden de mogelijkheid recent werk te tonen, solo of in kleine groepen. Galerie Noord richt zich op autonoom, experimenteel en onderzoekend werk in vrijwel alle disciplines. We willen bezoekers verrassen door tentoonstellingen te bieden met een wisselend karakter.
Galerie Noord wordt volledig gerund door vrijwilligers. In 1997 werd de galerie opgericht als kunstenaarsinitiatief.
