Exhibition August 6 - September 25.
E. Cammenga has been staying at the Bierumer School as a guest artist since July 1. During this month work has been created which can be viewed every weekend from August 6 to September 25 between 14:00 - 17:00. During this period various activities will take place and no week will the exhibition be the same.
Before July 1, Cammenga was already regularly seen exploring Bierum and its surroundings. She is particularly interested in the history of this area, in the churches, the frescoes, the people who once lived here, lost ships in the Eems. It strikes her that the people here are friendly, open and receptive and often know a lot about their surroundings and like to talk about it.
The exhibition will be a combination of video images, spatial, often water objects and drawings. Among other things, there will be three saltwater aquariums that were created with the help of the Museum ZeeAquarium. Water plays a major role in every part of the building. The playfulness and humor in Cammenga's work often evoke a smile but also amazement, among other things, at the sounds made by the fish.
Sunday, August 7, at 12:00 p.m. there is a walk with the title; the struggle over the disappeared cemetery and chapel in Hoogwatum by Cammenga and Katja van der Kamp. Gather at 12:00 at the church in Bierum.
On Sunday 7 and 14 August films from the Groninger archives will be shown especially for the people of North East Groningen. With the following film program:
