George Verberg Stipendium 2022
About this activity.
On Thursday 26 January 2023, Kirsten de Wrede, alderwoman for Culture of the Municipality of Groningen, will announce the winner of the George Verberg Grant 2022. The grant amounts to €10,000 and is an incentive for recent graduates of the Bachelor's and Master's programmes of Minerva Art Academy, Hanze University of Applied Sciences. Following the award ceremony, the exhibition of Anna Fitas, winner of 2021, will be opened.
The George Verberg Grant is oriented towards a stay abroad and, as such, forms a supplement to the prizes and grants that Minerva Art Academy already awards to talented graduates. The grant (€10.000,-) is funded by the Municipality of Groningen.

Exhibition Anna Fitas
In the exhibition Little Light + Big Darkness, Anna Fitas displays her contrasting work, with a focus on light and darkness. For the George Verberg Grant, she traveled to Scandinavia where this contradiction is an important theme. Fitas made a series of works during her journey in various forms and techniques. These works are on display from January 26 until February 9 in the Koepelzaal of Minerva Art Academy.
