Exhibition "Cuddly" at K38 - Can you pet birds?

How nice would it be to pet a small sparrow?

Unfortunately, sparrows must be petted with your eyes. Joepe Bos paints these small birds on towering canvases. Wilhelmina Zoutewelle built a monument for animals whose fur or skin has been taken by humans, and made cuddly paper furs and animal bowls. Arien de Groot has lived with pets since childhood. Ten small pencil sketches of dogs and cats from her hand, vividly depicted, hang in the gallery.

People have a need for cuddling. This releases the cuddle hormone oxytocin, which makes you happy and joyful. Most nursing homes do not allow animals to be brought in, even though this would be beneficial for the residents. Madeleine Corbey has therefore created more than 60 colorful and soft art cuddly toys, which visitors are allowed to cuddle on and around a large pouf. And they are for sale!

Also, the nine other artists; Ans Courtier, Afke Dam, Marleen van Engelen, Arien de Groot, Helma Hille, Mieke Koenen, Zwannie Menger, Saber Mikael, Tineke Otten, and Marijtje van der Veen, provide a completely different and special interpretation of the theme 'Cuddly' using various techniques.

Arien de Groot offers guided tours to small groups and school classes upon request. She talks about the production process and the thoughts behind the artworks. Costs including coffee/tea are € 4.00. For children in primary school age, there is a treasure hunt and viewing guide available. Also, on the upper floor, the Youth Exhibition on this theme can be admired.

In De Kunstwinkel, several colorful and fun paintings by Janny Oosterheert are on display.
