Exhibition Sustainability Depicted UMCG
About this activity.
This presentation shows visual work on the use of disposable products to energy consumption; Students from Minerva Art Academy did research on sustainability in the medical world.
At the UMCG, the impact of our actions on the environment is taken into account. Groups of motivated employees: the Green Teams, are working on a sustainable way of working in their own departments. With guided tours of several Green Teams, students from different grades, disciplines and courses conducted research on the shop floor.
In the Offcourse Sustainability in Care, supervised by instructor Tessa Hesseling, the students spent sixteen weeks studying the use of different materials, their life cycle and the impact of their use. The OffCourse began with questions such as, "What is sustainability?" and "How do I, as a maker, raise awareness around topics such as sustainability? This quest was followed by tours of various departments at the UMCG.
The final phase of the Offcourse involved transforming the findings of these surveys, tours and lessons into a work. These works each tell a story of awareness, challenges and hope and aim to contribute to the conversation about finding alternatives for a sustainable future.
