'Crossing Borders' in K38
About this activity.
"Crossing Borders" – Crossing Boundaries in Art – at K38
From July 12 to August 3th, the summer exhibition "Crossing Borders" by the artist collective Zichtlijn from Westerkwartier will be on display in Kunstencentrum K38.
The exhibition will be officially opened on Friday, July 11 at 4:00 PM by Klaas Smit, Mayor of Noordenveld, and Bé Schollema, Alderman of Westerkwartier, accompanied by live music!
This exhibition features the work of 23 artists(!) who collaborate, inspire one another, and push the boundaries of their own disciplines and artistic practices.
Boundaries—we all know them. They can be physical, like a provincial border, but also mental or cultural. How do you transcend them as an artist collective? And what does it really mean to cross a boundary?
For artist collective Zichtlijn, the journey began with what seemed like a small step: from Westerkwartier to Drenthe. A physical, provincial boundary was crossed—literally and figuratively. That first step set many things in motion. We stepped out of our familiar surroundings and discovered new perspectives, new connections, and new forms of expression.
Mental boundaries began to fade. By inspiring each other and working together—both within and beyond our own disciplines—we deepened our art. This cross-pollination led to unexpected and surprising creations. Boundaries shifted, and in some cases, disappeared entirely.
The diversity within Zichtlijn, always a strength, has become even richer through this process.
In this exhibition, these 23 artists proudly present the outcome of this boundary-breaking journey. Be surprised by the diversity, the collaboration, and the courage to cross borders.
